In a few days, this year will end, and another year will begin.

It signifies a new beginning, hope, and a chance to start everything fresh for many. Hence it is the day of the year when people create their New Year’s Resolutions.

Sadly, 75% of New Year’s Resolutions will fail, which time and time again have proven and shown.

The main reason for failure is quite obvious. Fads and excitement drive resolutions. It may work for the next few days after New Year’s Eve, but once the excitement has passed and so will the motivation and inspiration that went it.

Another reason resolutions fail is that people use them as an excuse not to do what needs to be done. People will bluntly say, “I failed this time, I guess I have to wait for the next New Year to start fresh.”

This mentality is absurd. If you analyze it, most people who make resolutions don’t really want to change. They just want to move along with the crowd and pretend they want to make changes in their life.

They take action for the first few days, then return to their old life.

Do This Instead

Instead of waiting for the New Year to arrive, focus on what you want to achieve. Forget about waiting for the right day, time, or moment. These things usually don’t happen. So instead, choose a day and when that day comes, take action.

You don’t need to wait for the moons or planets to align. That day can be today, tomorrow, the following week, or the next month. It doesn’t matter. As long as you do what needs to be done when that day comes is what matters most.

You do something because you sincerely want doing it. Not just wanting it, you need to do it because it’s a must. And you will not stop until you achieve it.

I smoked for almost 20 years. It took me two years before I quit smoking. I made two New Year’s Resolutions, and it didn’t even give me the motivation or strength to stop even for a day.

When my health was getting worse, that moment shoved me to quit successfully.

If you want to achieve something, you can start at any point in your life.
